The Guidebook for Pharmacists on Diabetes Management is a publication of the Banting & Best Diabetes Centre at the University of Toronto.  The Guidebook is divided into three sections:
1) Glycemia
2) Cardiovascular Protection
3) Lifestyle
It incorporates recommendations from Canadian Clinical Practice Guidelines in diabetes, hypertension and lipids.  It also includes information pharmacists need to know including clinical pearls, medication charts, helpful tips for educating patients using motivational interviewing techniques and managing common side effects.  Content has been written by pharmacists, dietitians, and psychologists with input from endocrinologists, cardiologists, internists, exercise physiologists and family doctors.
The book has been beautifully designed and is easy to use.  Each section is organized in the following manner:
1) What are the goals?
2) How do we reach the goals?
3) How do I educate my patient?
Multiple iterations have been tested in busy community pharmacies to ensure the information is relevant and helpful for pharmacists as they work with patients with diabetes.
